The GOP has never been, and is not now, fiscally responsible. Checked the debt lately? And the lack of willingness to pay for it on the GOP side? When they pass a budget that actually has numbers in it, maybe they’ll be taken seriously.

Anderson’s alternate universe, again. The GOP should be the “loyal opposition” party in congress;following up threats to vote “no” on Obama and the Democrat’s agenda, with actual unified NO VOTES. -But these GOP leaders appear to be bullied and cowed and fearful of media scorn, and can be expected to CAVE-IN, on voting for nominees in the bottom-of-the-barrell qualifications, as they just did with 4 GOP joining 54 Dems to send Hagel to head the Defense Department! -God help our military volunteers in uniform.Hagel is wrong on every important issue…the constitutional duty to defend America, the duty to support our friends like Israel, and the duty to oppose and not aid and abet our enemies like the Islamic governments with an agenda to do genocide on the Jewish state of Israel.-I know God will continue helping Israel….and God will no doubt punish the USA for disobeying Genesis 12:3.

Polls say Americans are waking up, and the GOP has a DISAPPROVAL with 69% of them.

Note to dt, and so many others upset with Hagel, I am not Jewish, the less than one percent of Americans who are are NOT the majority, and the flag of the United States of AMERICA now has 50 stars, and NONE OF THEM are the Star of David. Not one single Muslim or Arab country has fired first on U.S. Navy vessels, and refused to stop, so calling Israel our “ally” and “friend” is misplaced at best.

And please note, Democrats AND GOP folks, it is time to put the UNITED STATES FIRST, and stop wasting money, and our young men and women’s lives to defend the most “aggressor” nation in the MIddle East.

Glad to see you’re feelin’ feisty Howie.I hate using wiki as a source because it can be manipulated, but if correct it does give nuanced agreement to your statement. If correct, it was actually White House Nat’l Economic Council Director Gene Sperling who came up with an idea to which Obama and Boehnor reluctantly agreed since the previous two options had failed and a ‘financial disaster’ was looming.^I will continue to maintain this was bipartisan foolishness in an effort to manipulate public opinion into supporting party candidates in an upcoming election rather than act in good faith on behalf of a United people. I don’t mind the sequester in theory, but the way it is being applied seems like finding ants on the watermelon, and instead of picking the ants of carefully, they’re using Gallagher’s hammer to get rid of them^I think the press is failing in its duty, but I also believe liberals and conservatives own this fiasco equally.Take care neighbor,Respectfully,C.

Remember, fiscally responsible means that we must budget to pay for those things we need and want to take care of those less fortunate than we are. The wealthy in our country really won’t be effected by what’s happening to the federal budget at all. They don’t use our public schools, they don’t use any kind of public transportation (private airplanes on private airfields don’t have the requirements that most people have to deal with), they don’t use public hospitals because their private physicians deal on a completely different method of payment., they don’t worry about where their next meal will come from. What they do worry about is how they will be allowed to keep more and more of the the millions and billions of dollars they earn from investments that depend on labor of others.

Remember it is the Congress that is responsible for the budget and out GOP control has avoided making a sensible budget in order to keep from being blamed from cutting program that many of our voters need. And they don’t want a budget that has those who make way more money than they need pay to help those who are working hard but can’;t afford the high prices laid out ;by those who really only want more money.

Remember this mess started when a Republican President got us into an extremely expensive war that has cost us money and lives. But then the GOP thought that war would help the economy!!
