At least he is not a deserter. That shows some character.

Ok Kurt, an upvote for going back to fight it out, a downvote for losing sleep over the girl, or was it purely paternal?

Maybe because Victory in Europe (European Theater of Operations) ended half the war and Victory in Japan ended the rest of the war (Pacific Theater of Operations). Victory in Africa didn’t settle a thing; no leader of the Axis powers was overthrown, not even Benny the Moose (Mussolini). Victory in Africa led to the invasion of Sicily, which in turn led to the invasion of mainland Italy which didn’t end until Hitler died and Doenitz surrendered.

I could have been paternal then, but maybe not now.I wonder what happened to her while the war was coming to an end. Guess we’ll have to patiently wait for the explanation.

@SaskSledDog,while the Africa campaign may look like a backwater event,it was vital in order to deny the Axis control of the Med,and equally important, the Suez Canal. One excellent source to read on this subject is Churchill’s memoir.

I love the adjective Kurt uses to describe the end of the war! “Disastrous” for WHOM,Herr Panzergrenadier? I guess this dude evaded the de-Nazification program cause he was hiding out.
