Heh, took me a second to get this.

OH!

Just got it….cos what do Mom’s always say?

And Nick Fury wears an eyepatch.

It’s kinda conflated with “A Christmas Story” where Ralphie’s Mom says it about the Red Ryder gun…..

And Bruno…. yeah…I never actually read any Nick Fury comics cos it was just so convoluted…Seems like he’s been in WWII, modern conflicts, and various Marvel superhero groups..he’s been old and young, white and Black….a superhero and an ordinary mortal.

Who can keep up?The one constant seems to be the eye patch.

Good thing he got the bb gun, and his mother was right….

or we’d never recognise him at all.

The original Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD comics were excellent. (The Character was also Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos…in WWII…) But I still wouldn’t have gotten the gag if you hadn’t told me….

I still have most the comics Marvel put out between 1964 and 1969

It took me over a month but I just noticed: What happened to Guy and Rodd? Google and Wikipedia were no help.

Nick Fury had the injury that later forced him to wear the eyepatch back when he was leading the Howling Commandos. In fact, I have the issue where it explains just how he got the injury that forced him to wear the eyepatch. (What was never explained was why Nick’s beard grew so fast that he had to shave about five times a day and was still full of stubble……..)

So, the joke must be that Nick Fury wears an eye patch and in that Christmas movie the mother is always saying a BB gun will put your eye out? Just trying to piece this together since I am not up on The Avengers and have never actually seen the Christmas movie in question.

Maybe it should read: “LL REBEL BB RFLE” …

After I Googled “Nick Fury” I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed.

That explains a lot.
