One way to explain differnces in cousins is as follows.Your first cousin is your aunt’s child. Your second cousin is your mother’s cousin. Your third cousin would be the child of you mothr’s cousin.

I have used the free FamilySearch.org to find lots of ancestors and cousins. But, I do not even try to do the ‘removed’ and ‘2nd’ designations.
