Ted Rall for January 30, 2013
Transcript:
Now let's turn to politics. Man: Very right-wing political figures and TV journalists criticised right-wing politicians for not being right-wing enough. Woman: Right-wingers responded by accusing the very right-wingers of failing to show enough gratitude for letting very right-wingers get their way most of the time. Man: But the very right-wingers counter that, by failing to back them 100.0%, the right-wingers are really secular socialist atheist America-haters. Woman: Next up: we invite a very right-wing professor to debate a very very very right-wing talk radio host. Man: It's so cool to hear both sides!

You guys must not watch ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN or MSNBS. Nothing but liberals and a token RINO.

You know, Ted, when they all look like right-wingers, it just might mean you’re not a centrist.

Amazing. ConserveGov illustrates the point Ted is making. Barack Obama practically ran Reagan’s third term and they call him a “radical Marxist” (in ignorance of definitions, but never mind that). God only knows what would happen if he were an ACTUAL liberal, like, say, Republican Teddy Roosevelt.

FAIR!

Fox has perfected the art of having their commentators make claims, unverified or outrageous, which are then reported on by Fox as “news”, and then used by other commentators and their “news” reporters to question Dems about their response. I’d love to see a Dem with the balls to call BULLSHIT on live TV to this crap!

Fox is also egregious in their use of commentarial comments by their “news” reporters during stand-up presentations, instead of just laying out the facts. They report (what they choose) and we decide (based on biased reporting). Murdoch sure spawned a winner! Maybe it will finally come crashing down like his British print empire seems to be.

I don’t know how Ted defines himself, but I’m a radical. So, yeah most wing nuts look like Neanderthals to me (albeit some have an impressive vocabulary) and Bam Bam looks like a moderate to me. I know my views are not representative. Too bad a lot of tightie righties seem to feel that it must be true because they think so.

When figuring out who are “right wingers,” it helps to compare positions with polls of the American public. Americans (even Republicans) overwhelmingly like Obama’s gun control proposals, especially the back-ground checks. They overwhelmingly want immigration reform. And a solid majority wants abortion kept safe, legal, and rare. Now, when was the last time you heard any of that side of the argument from the ex-Republican staffers at Fox News?

“Rall—next do a toon on Ed Schultz to give yourself some credibility—that would not tax your razor sharp wit.”-This makes no sense. If Mr. Rall illustrated the truth here, it’s truth no matter what he does tomorrow, next week, next year. Your statement is like saying,“You said 2+2=4, but I’m not going to believe you unless the next thing you say is about subtraction.” I find things that Mr. Rall says to often be extreme, sometimes he steps on my political toes, and occasionally he dings someone for something I see as wrong. But, insisting that he do some false balancing act to ease the hurt feelings of a particular group is ludicrous. His job is to call balls, strikes, and fouls as HE SEES THEM, not to make sure that your team has as much critisism as the other.

No, he was not a Nazi, and his views shifted considerably away from his early militaristic imperialist years. Try reading this: The Progressive Platform part of 1912: http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/index.asp?document=607Now tell me how much the Democratic Party of 2012 would even propose, let alone vote for. Despite some of his antiquated views, TR would be more liberal than Obama – or at least ACT on it.

The only thing that has conservatives concerned about drones, is the growing realization that drones might be used here. And, it’s Republicans like Bob McConnell who have been advocating domestic drone programs…

I want to know where McCain and Ryan fit in all this because they are on every channel. Someone said earlier that most channels don’t have anything but liberals on but McCain is on ever channel every Sunday.

Let’s see, I’ve heard a female Fox “anchor” ask what “we” Republicans can do about a particular program of Obama’s. I’ve heard a male “anchor” throw in a talking point on any number of occasions, such as " The Obama administration thus and so, but that’s not what people on the street are saying", before cutting to a segment of two or three people who parrot the right-wing line. No attempt to find anyone who agrees with Obama. Maybe you should try listening to them, instead of absorbing the mind set.

Thanks a lot! It certainly isn’t very easy harping on something that nobody seems to want to hear about, even so-called liberals.

I don’t make a habit of writing down, taping, you tubing, etc. every time I hear/see a stupid comment and/or an imposition of editorializing. I don’t have the storage space.

Yep. This is my main criticism of the daily show/colbert. Sure it is funny to lampoon the right wing insanity but it’s pretty rare that they actually acknowledge the existence of any viable alternative to the right wing circus. I’m all for comedy and critique but if the Left is going to advance we need to pay attention more to what we are going to do than just what stupid things our opponents are doing. This isn’t exactly a new situation…
