Watch (or better yet read) “Farenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, and then watch “Fox and Friends” in the morning. The concept of three people in a semicircle agreeing with each other and the viewer with no dissenting voices is a very powerful method of propogand. The “lap dog media” is also one of their inventions. Not counting MSNBC (which I don’t recommend watching due to bias as well), there are more conservative voices and opinions shown on the other networks than there are liberal. It was during the Bush administration that FOX became a Lapdog to the President, and defended him while the other networks showed the failings and criticisms of his policies, the same as they do to Obama today. FOX was the first network to PROMOTE a single political ideology, and if anything opposing that were shown on another network, no matter how inconsequential, they blew it up into the “Liberal Media Attacking America”.
MSNBC is “commentary”, not proclaiming itself “news”. I watched a bit of Fox- their “news” program, not their self-identified “commentary” or “entertainment” folks, and proved for myself once again that Fox viewers ARE the most mis-informed folks in America. Those “righties” always bringing up Pravda need to look at their “fabulous frauds from Fox”, it’s much worse.
PBS is not liberal. It’s barely middle of the road. And it’s one of those private-public funded partnerships the GOP should love, since they used to support that kind of thing…
And Fox News just rehired Karl Rove, who has been wrong about just about everything for eight years, which just about says it all. Though to be fair, it’s been hard to be conservative and correct lately, since conservatism launched into it’s anti-reality mode. Surprising how often reality turns out to be real.
Oh-ha-ha, ohh-ha-ha-ha….(sarcasm)….the way you use “faux” for Fox. What a brainiac! What wit! You musta stayed up ALL night working on it! You twist words to make yourself look more brilliant. Well, guess what? Ain’t workin’. You wouldn’t know fair and balanced from YOUR news channels or if it bit you on the butt!
There are wonderful, kind, and intelligent people who believe Fox is the only news source they can watch because Fox is pro life, pro gun, anti gay, pro military involvement, pro Christmas, anti mosque, and generally conservative on all of the social issues that is important to them. Fox is, to many, a “Christian” news source and therefore the only one to be trusted. To insult their viewers is to entrench them. Just because people hold the views I list above, does not mean they are evil though many liberals and moderates feel some of these views are unconstitutional. Fox viewers believe it the liberals who are unconstitutional. It has been my own experience that by providing information from objective sources that are not viewed as socially corrupt, one is able to open the minds of people who already like you. This is why they are the most watched news channel. In a world where people would rather watch the inconsequential lives of “reality”…. i can’t say stars… performers, the news takes a back seat to some pretty awful things. Too many people feel helpless to make a change and watching pundits cover the exact same topics hour after hour just makes it worse. Fox tells people what they want to hear and conservative pastors and job environments reinforce it.There are many great news sources – NPR, PBS, BBC, the websites for numerous newspapers and magazines to name a few, but even those are scorned by people who are not aware of Rupert Murdoch’s history, some of his co owners, and who refuse to notice when Fox tells a lie they never correct. Fox is a lobbying arm for Rupert Murdoch who is currently pursuing his goals by supporting Republicans who, grateful for his help, bend over backwards to be useful, just as politicians do in England and Australia.Do not be angry at Fox’s viewers, educate them when you can, and be patient with them when you can’t. Respectfully,C.
ABC, NBC & CBS far outweigh any cable network when it comes to prime time news, which is all most people watch. About 10 times more people watch the networks than the cable channels. The opinion based shows on Fox & MSNBC aren’t news. They’re something to watch if you want your pre-conceived notions reinforced. Apparently, lots more conservatives need to have their views reinforced by talking heads.
First of all, Fascism is a right wing ideology. Hitler and others burned books because they were anti-progressive, wanting to indoctrinate the populace with a nationalist education, not a liberal one.The television channel in the book was a nationalist propaganda machine, limiting the knowledge available to the people by only giving them positive stories. Remember the Bush years when it was taboo to criticize the Iraq invasion? It is fascinating to me how much FOX takes after the news organization in the book. If you really believe FOX is the only channel telling the truth, that shows an unwillingness to accept any facts that conflict with your preconceived notions. We don’t get “indoctrinated” by CBS, PBS, NBC, or even NPR because they do allow both sides of an issue to be shown and discussed. FOX decides on one stance, and pummels the “token liberal” guest into the ground for disagreeing with it. THAT is indoctrination.
I like your comment. Truthfully, America is caught between extreme ideologies. Conservatism is just as important as Progressivism to a society. Unfortunately, the moderate voice is lost between the chants of “All change is good no matter the consequences” and “All change is bad no matter how beneficial”. Those who are willing to weigh the benefits of both and direct our country in the most beneficial direction no longer seem to have the political clout to do so.
Olbermann was fired from Current less than a year after joining the network. You’ll be pleased to know he’s been finding it difficult to find work. And while I know you are being sarcastic, I have friends and family who are better people than I will ever be; they are active in their communities ,they provide tutoring to children and adults learning to read. They provide counseling to people in and newly released from prison, and so much more it shames me to realize how little I contribute. They also believe Fox is the only news source for Christians to watch for reasons I posted in my first comment above. Having thoroughly debated issues, we have had to agree to disagree on a number of subjects. They are always pleased to hear from me but we do not discuss certain topics out of mutual respect. They would never criticize a person for being gay, they would never verbally abuse a person who had an abortion. They would pray for both of those people, and they will vote their religious convictions. That is part of the diversity of our nation. We can hold different positions and vote those positions. It is when we use coercion to force people to submit to our will, rather than use our votes, that we are no longer the Americans the founders hoped we would be. It is not a perfect system. Winston Churchill said, Democracy is the worst form of government that has ever been tried, except for all the others that preceded it.By the way….the word redneck originated in the 1930’s when union coal miners fighting against mine owners wore red kerchiefs to identify themselves from the men they were fighting. Those rednecks might consider Mr. Murdoch’s agenda to be a threat to them and their way of life. Respectfully,C.

I always thought it was the tarted up women in short dresses, long (usually) blonde hair, and … well, you get the idea. But it isn’t journalism.
