Some people have life because of a gun. Some people have liberty because of a gun. Some people have the ability to pursue their dreams because of a gun..Enter liberal logic. Take guns away. This way those who want to do for themselves what the government cannot do will now be even more vulnerable.
The other amendments were written at the same time, but you want to use that excuse just to rewrite the one you don’t like? Sorry, but a lot of us like it just the way it is. It can be changed by Constitutional Amendment. Give that a shot if you think it’ll fly.
You know, NO ONE IS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY ALL YOUR GUNS. No one. Having said that, rather than all their nonsense about “defending yourself from the government” which is provably NOT what the Founders had in mind, I wish the gun fans would just say what they really think: that occasional mass killings are the price we pay for broad freedoms to own guns. Because that is clearly what they think. The only solution they are willing to accept is punishment AFTER the crime is committed, which does nothing to prevent it. Q. E. D.Why not just say it?
The number of people killed by guns FAR outnumbers those whose “freedom” has been preserved by them, in this country at least. Since Sandy Hook, we’ve heard of one woman who defended her home against an intruder. Put that against the 2500 violent gun deaths we have had in the same time (based on past trend of 30,000 deaths a year, of course; since studying actual gun deaths is illegal thanks to the NRA’s stooges in congress).
“Not only a veteran, but a retiree, King Shinola—and it is not free as you so smart-ass assume. And the comments “refuting” only had to do with cost—not the quality of care. What a stupid know it all!!”So, let’s cut all of your government benefits. Why should my tax dollars pay for your well being? I don’t owe you anything… that’s what I would say if I were a selfish, ignorant jerk, like you.We have the best health care in the world, but it’s available only to those who can afford it. Which is fewer & fewer every day. Even if you have insurance, for many people, high deductibles & coverage limits make that insurance nearly useless. Most can’t afford any insurance, which anyone claiming a sense of morals should know is a horrible thing.
And some of us have pre-existing conditions that make health insurance impossible, or totally out of reach financially. And no,there isn’t any free health care in emergency rooms.
I’m so tired with the extremists of the NRA (Not Really Americans). Let’s do what is right, and move forward. The absurd idea of reducing gun violence by using MORE guns is like treating an alcoholic with MORE liquor. Please, America, just think logically.
“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”*I’d like to ask the pro-gun crowd to comment on the first half of the 2nd Amendment (A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,…).*What do you think the framers meant by this?*Do you believe that we should spend as much time and effort interpreting the 1st half as we have the 2nd half?
Leave it to HOWGOZIT to bring up Obamacare. *The cartoon is about guns and the NRA. ALL of the comments prior to his were about guns and the NRA.*Question to HOWGOZIT: Why? What was the link?
Zit, so you’re not only a vet, but a retiree, which means you have Tricare, the cheapest medical coverage, not only in America, but in most of the world. Your copays and premiums don’t approach the cost in TAXES countries with “socialized medicine” have to pay for that “free” care.
I admit I have retirement, and VA benefits, which I EARNED, and PAID FOR, so it’s hardly the “government scab” my brother, who always worked on nothing but “defense” contracts, or NASA contracts, his entire career, complained about, yet he took HIS benefits as a guaranteed RIGHT, because HIS COMPANIES paid the total cost of his premiums, his entire career as well!!
Notice no one in the crowd is actually FIRING at either of them?
Jefferson once said that the greatest irony of the 2nd Amendment is that it is totally unnecessary until the government tries to take it away. It’s more a warning flag than anything else, saying, “Hey, pay attention, the first step of any Tyrant is to disarm the general populace”.
Unfortunately, Ima, there are those who will always go around the law, including many supposedly “law abiding” gun owners. Apparently the three “accidental” gun shootings at gun shows this last weekend were the result of the gun itself, as authorities seem to be choosing not to press charges, as of this AM at least. And every year we read of a hunter who is shot while his gun falls over while he’s climbing a fence, or drops and shoots him while he’s getting into his tree stand, or even where his dog steps on the trigger while the gun is unattended. So I guess the inanimate object DOES have a mind of it’s own!

Ridiculous. Then why does the US have the largest number of gun death of any nation. Maybe we aren’t as civilized as we think we are.

Why free men (armed) would argue anything with slaves (unarmed) is beyond me. Slaves despise freedom…
