Does this make sense? There are guys all around her in med school with more in common than most on Match.com.

Most people are single because they haven’t found the “right and perfect person”…sounds silly, I know, but why settle for just OK, or good enough? If you don’t meet your perfect match, why bother? It wasn’t meant to be…

The sister of my best friend in junior high was beautiful and super popular—never got married though she went steady and was in great demand. Too high standards, I think.

It’s not “high standards”, it “high maintenance” that’s the problem. Drew would require round the clock attention, mostly of the financial type. So, what she’s really looking for is a “sugar daddy”.

I am sure she does have hundreds of losers after her on match.com. I don’t think she should be doing the electronic dating thing. No need and it doesn’t work very well. She needs to meet someone in person and she will I am sure. Maybe Daddy Warbucks will help Alex and Toggle get on their feet. Always look on the bright side of life, as Monty Python folks used to sing…

Wow, what a bunch of hate at the pretty girl. One suspects some of these commenters here are projecting just a little.

heard that match is being sued by a woman who survived a knife attack from one of her dates. there are many losers on match and some other dating sites. maybe her standards are too high, she is not going to get ryan gosling, but kevin james.

I know a beautiful, brilliant girl who adopted one child and had another by artificial insemination. She told a family member that she never got married because she couldn’t find anyone who measured up to her father or brother.

“Too high standards” usually translates as “not willing to settle for sexist jerk.” Deal. Also these people are REALLY young. Drew has enough sense to know she doesn’t HAVE to have a man, and not to settle for someone who would drag her down.

Also, it’s hard to find exceptionally smart guys on dating services, unless they have serious problems. The deck is stacked in their favor. One finds them at school, yes, and also in geek clubs in urban areas.

“It is far more likely that ObamaCare will level the playing field for Drew and Alex.”…………………………………………………………………….

Didn’t President Eisenhower’s Interstate superhighway system “level the playing field” for all those who drove on it back in the day? Both those who paid taxes for it and those who didn’t?

Maybe it’s not about lowering her standards; maybe it’s about opening her eyes to see what’s really there.

How does one define a “loser”. Perhaps it is those who resort to online dating sites that need to take a long hard look at themselves. How did the human race (at least in the western world) meet, greet and possibly ultimately get together before online dating sites?

My understanding, according to the few med-student friends and acquaintences I have is, before you start med school, take a long, long vacation. Then, say goodbye to all your fam and friends, because you won’t have time for them for the next four years. Because you’ll be in MED SCHOOL! Blondie here will usually be surrounded by those in her same boat. She may as well use her guy-classmates as sex-buddies, cuz even the guys won’t have time for relationships.

If this were not a comic I’d bet money on Alex being the successful one both personally and professionally. 35 yrs ago everyone in town told me that I was an idiot for marrying a blue collar man with a shy retiring personality. All my far more beautiful classmates were looking for Mr Perfect. I married Mr “Not so perfect but willing to do something about it”. Today most all of them are on marriage number 3 or 4 or lonely and raising cats, no longer even bothering to look and we’re chugging along still as happy today as 35 yrs ago.Funny thing is at my last class reunion, all of them kept asking me “How’d you luck out and get such a perfect guy.”

This is fascinating. With zero evidence (from the history as shown in the strip) we have suggestions that:Drew is a secret lesbianDrew is looking for a sugar daddyDrew has standards that are too high, whatever that meansandAlex and Toggle will be at each other’s throats in a couple years.

What the heck is going on here? Sure are a bunch of unhappy people, commenting on a make-believe world.

I don’t have a dog in this fight. Drew is going to be a doctor with life happening in the mean time. Alex and Toggle seem to be solid. I feel that you are given a chance, sometimes. So do your best with what you have It’s worked for me for 23 years.
