Shed a tear for the fallen innocent. They went straight to heaven. That’s of little comfort to the family left behind to deal with such a senseless, horrific tragedy.
“The two buried on Monday were Jewish and they don’t believe in heaven. Where did they go?”
I’m sure your comment wasn’t realistically about “heaven,” but I try to shed light where helpful.
“At death the soul and body separate. King Solomon said, “The dust will return to the ground as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:17). This means the soul returns to heaven, back to God, where it is enveloped in the Oneness of the Divine."
There are different versions of Judiasm. The one I was brought up in teaches that this is what we get. When you die ….there is no afterlife. So you do your best every day because this is it.
Depends on which “Version” of the rules you are referring to. While I won’t say anyone is wrong, I will say that most of us have posted our belief s we understand them. Sometimes we get caught up between that which we have been taught by church dogma and what is actually written in our Sacred Tomes.
wow, ima, mickeyi had no idea that the violent, vicious extermination of these people was really a quiet beautiful thing. maybe you should go out and give more children and their defenders this gift.
I don’t have my Greek bible at home, but I bet there’s no comma in the Greek at all. Now of course if he really said it, it was Aramaic, not Greek, and spoken rather than written. Anyway, you’d think God could be a little more clear. He could have said “I tell you you will be in heaven with me this day” or “We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when….”
Reminds me of Luther’s question: is “The love of God” an objective or a possessive genitive? so much can hang on a point of grammar or even punctuation.
“No such place [as Purgatory] in Christianity; only in Catholicism. In Christianity, the dead sleep until the Second Coming.”
I hope you’re not spreading that “Catholics are not Christians” nonsense. Nobody holds the patent, but everybody THINKS they do. I say, if they call themselves Christians, they’re Christians.

Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.”Whether the parents believe or not, He will take care of the children.

Thank God the families of these children aren’t reading some of these comments! How cruel some of you are!
NIce to the point tribute, Steve! “Remember the Fallen” who died senselessly!
And let us also pray for the First Responders who happened upon those classrooms!

The kids are dead, the parents grieve, and in a week or two, the NRA folks will be back demanding no changes in law. Enough! indeed.
