For the first time we’re to spend Thanksgiving with family that lives in the same town, as a result of our move this year. Know my thankfulness will include the quick trip to the festivities!

I don’t know if I’ve ever had pumpkin pie that wasn’t made from canned filling. Hmmm.

@Tony, I only celebrate Holidays when I’m with family and have none nearby. I like my own roast turkey breast year-round (when I carve, I layer with thin sheets of acrylic in a big Rubbermaid-all individual portions). A 6-7# breast can give as many as 16 nice portions. I just had the last one yesterday with the last of my frozen par-boiled yams and a big serving of my home-mad Cuban black beans. I need to make more of my whole wheat and flax seed pizzas and I’m out of portions of my marinara sauce (with added pureed brocolli). I’ll be doing lots of cooking this week and have a Dr appt tomorrow, so guess I’m headed to the grocery later (still just about sunrise, now).

You are so right. I have a nice pumpkin sitting on my kitchen table waiting to be made into a pie and a batch of muffins.

I’ll make a turkey gumbo tomorrow with smoked turkey. One of my wifes old recipes. She used to love it.

Since I don’t live near family, I’m spending it at home with the hubby

At home, the four of us. Hubby, me and sons. No family close by anymore either.

DAZZ is heading to the grocery store? RIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING? I guess we’ll see her again about the middle of next week, or later?

I made the foolish error of stopping at one of our grocery stores because I needed bread! Needless to say, I left the grocery store and stopped at the Minit Mart instead!

For the first time in 20 years we are spending Thanksgiving at home. I’m very excited. We usually spend the day traveling to see each side of the family but this year everyone cancelled.

After many years of spending 3 days preparing for a dinner that is consumed in 10 minutes, our daughter has taken over and invited us to her dinner for the last few years. I’m loving it!
