Crossovers, retro-art, strange contest results, and now a baby named Judy. This is getting good!

Except for flashbacks, does Dick Tracy take place in the present time?

Sorry, Tarry, but that site requires registration to view the GA you linked….…………………………………………………………Ever since someone on this board mentioned Vincent Price, every time I look at Vitamin, I see the Abominable Dr. Phibes! Groan!

ok, so the “circle is complete” now.. .tracy was working the case when walt found the baby in his car… can we NOW get to how this whole story ties into vitamin flintheart and (yet another) story of scamming someone?

How cool to think that Tracy was there when Walt found Judy. Great stuff for longtime GA fans.

Tracy’s getting comfortable; he’s removed that old striped tie. So what gives on the contest: the who, what, where and why?

I wonder if the DSM-5 is going to do away with ADD given that most Millenials’ attention spans poop out after 140 characters;-)

While the continuity is a little bouncy since Dick Tracy isn’t condemned to age in “real” time like Walt is, this is a nice conceit…especially since GA and Dick were both born in the Chicago Tribune, and that area has always been the unofficial setting of both strips (GA being a little out of town, obviously).

If I register to everything I’d be overwhelmed. Thanks for putting up stuff though, most of which I can get without the extra motions.Gweedo, The I Love Comix Archive has you “register” every time you visit. It is sort of a formality to have a record of who visits for copyright purposes. I have never had them send me a confirmation e-mail or even had to set up a password. Just answer the three questions and you’re in!Believe me. The site is worth the trouble!

Reminds of a trick we pulled on my aunt about 1948:My sister came back from the west with newborn “Linda”.So, when we went to visit my aunt, we put Linda in her basket on the porch, rang the door-bell, and the rest of us hid in the bushes.Light comes on, aunt looks around, sees nobody, then looks down at Linda looking up at her!I can still hear her saying “OH! For pity sake!!!”

Drawn & Quarterly’s fifth volume of “Walt and Skeezix” (there is some legal trouble over them using the title “Gasoline Alley”), carrying the story up to 1930, has been out for about a year.

Back in those days, there wasn’t much fuss over taking in an abandoned baby. Not only did Walt do it twice, the Bobbsey Twins did, and so, after all, did Jonathan and Martha Kent. (The shtick about the Kents being snowed in for months and presenting Clark to the world as their own was a creation of the 80s.) Hey, it saved taxpayers’ money to keep the kid out of the local orphanage!

Superman gained his flying power because he looked stupid leaping in test cartoons. I believe the first non-trivial appearance of the Kents was in George Lowther’s novel (which was sold only to libraries in an effort to bring kids in), where they were named Eben and Sarah. Eben died of a heart attack in a “lift the anvil” contest at the fair, and young Clark was so upset he lifted the anvil over his head with one hand. A young reporter named Perry White was covering the event, but fortunately didn’t get a picture.
