I didn’t find Mitt’s “binder” statement a gaffe, it is his policies that, along with Ryan’s views, make women “second class citizens” that are disturbing. BTW, MItt never did answer the question on “equal pay”.
My step dad had the first 9 years of Playboy. Does that count as binders full of women? This is a non issue. Equal pay for equal work is a real issue. Healthcare for women and children are real issues. We’re in a bind folks. Let’s leave the binders behind and start fixing what’s broke.Respectfully,C.
If your husband doesn’t contribute to “…cook the meals, clean the house, do the laundry, let the dog out, etc, etc.” then you married the wrong man. When my wife was alive, I did the cooking, she did the laundry and we shared everything else. You may be willing to accept less pay, but why should every other woman in the country hew to your mean?“…and men do not.” What? You’ve never seen a waiter? I’ve been one.
Republicans keep telling us to forget about Bush and how the Shrub and his minions are responsible fot dragging the country down to where it’ll take a whole generation to recover and then they pull SFB crap like this. Hypocrites, all of them.
Every once in awhile, I’ll see a report on the value of a stay at home parent. Preparing the family for the day with food, clean clothes, necessary items, cleaning house, running errands, managing the bills, minor maintenance, caring for children after school, helping with homework, dealing with school paperwork sent home, cooking dinner cleaning up after dinner, quality time with children including reading to them or playing games….Last time I heard, a parent providing that to their family 12 months per year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day should be paid 85k per year. The checks with the male.btw, like runar, I did a great deal of the work around the house, but my wife had the better job and a disability. I also was the oldest of 4 children whose two husbands of my childhood were sometimes gone. My paradigm prepared me for helping the lady of the house. I doubt you married the wrong man, you just haven’t properly trained him yet. ;) You should meet my wife.Respectfully,C.
Agreed. I heard a woman journalist on MSNBC say the same thing about her job. Will Romney do any better? We don’t even know if he would have supported the Libby Ledbetter Act.C.
My respected neighbor, I can not tell you how much I wish I could believe you are correct in your assessment. However, if your man wins, I will respect the outcome and pray/hope you are right.Respectfully,C.
For more reasons that I can put here. If I ever find a forum area where we can really talk about these things, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, did you see Luckovich’s toon today? I think you, me, and Fred need to go fishing.C.
