buck knife and hacksaw blade, two strokes around the trunk a foot apart, peel off the bark in between them. no more leaves to rake. works 100% of the time.

That will kill the tree!! We need to plant more trees, not kill the ones we have.i am surrounded by huge oaks and maples and never complain about the amount of leaves because they are so beautiful, provide shade and help the environment.

My leaf-blower also vacuums and mulches – it has a bag attachment and I empty that into giant orange/black plastic bags that end up looking like huge pumpkins for Halloween.

Just mow over them, grind them into compost, and let them decompose back into your grass.

Why doesn’t Clem hog all the leaves and take them away?

Pine trees oxygenate and you just have to deal with the cones and a few needles.

I’ve got 3 big gum trees that have the spikey seed pods and huge leaves like oak … every fall it’s the same – middle tree drops first, then the northern tree and then the southern tree is last … splatters of leaves in between from all just keep things lively … my version of San Diego snow … I mulch them up and add them as compost to my fruit trees … but it is a pain – at the heaviest, I run the mower and in 5 hours, you cannot tell I did anything.
