Yep, those are there too, but the Chinese aircraft carrier is not the threat their subs are. What’s really sad is, while recognizing every developed nation on the planet sells weapons, how many of the weapons being used were made in America. Good for jobs I guess, but sucks if you’re in the war zone. I live in a nice area where I can walk safely, even at night. My kids never had to avoid play areas because of snipers and mines. I am grateful to my government for the protections and privileges I’ve enjoyed. My gratefulness to the Creator(or as some atheists I could mention would say, my invisible friend), makes me pray that all peoples should enjoy a happy and peaceful life to the best their talents and health will allow. Tell me ScottPMWhere does your….passion….yeah…that’s an objective word….come from?C.

Interesting cartoon. Thanks for it. Like C. Downs, I feel so lucky not to live in war zones. I regret that US companies provide so many weapons, including mines, that add to the world’s misery. Will I always be so lucky to avoid war?

“We have met the enemy and he is us!” America is now the largest terrorist group in the world. By the way, the Joint Strike Fighter plane will cost $1.5 TRILLION dollars. And Robme wants to throw more money at the pentagon!

The cartoon depicts ONLY weapons commanded under the president. It shows our two possible Commanders in Chief. The picture, for you and me, We only see those in the image. However, ScottPM, a….nonobjective conservative…chose to paint the weapons as belonging to other ppls. Out of sight, beyond the horizon, the weapons of which he speaks exist. You are judging me on my third post. Please look at the first and second as well. One of the reasons I dislike this forum is the difficulty in focusing conversations. Miss one in the sequence, there is confusion. The first post speaks for itself, the second responds to ScottPM, the third addresses my frustration with the misuse of our military.Respectfully,C.

When we were in New Zealand five years ago, they DID understand U.S. political situation, and couldn’t believe our citizens were stupid enough to re-elect Bush, it was a near totally unified opinion down there, and Kiwis are pretty “conservative”, actually.

By reports in Aviation Week and other sources reported over a considerable period of time, the F-35 isn’t $1.5 trillion, it’s only $1.3 Trillion over the next 20 years, production and maintenance spending. It’s a cash cow for Lockheed, but as more countries back out of their contracts to buy it, our Congress will probably put more in to save the company’s profit margins.

In his farewell address, Eisenhower warned it would require an educated and informed electorate in order to avoid the excesses of the military industrial complex. It is said his draft for that address included the word Congressional along with military and industrial. It seems those three have taken his words to heart and endeavored to make us as uninformed and uneducated as possible(a hypothesis I"m willing to discuss) In the meantime, military officers and legislators who aided companies in their efforts to have systems and services purchased (even systems NOT in the best interest of the military) have retired to well paying jobs. Some have become lobbyists where they use relationships and inside info to keep the corruption moving. We can do better.btw, NightGaunt, DID you see the posts I mentioned above? The first one is the best. ;)Respectfully,C.
