According to my dictionary, the Middle English thoner, or thunder as we know it today, comes from the Old English thunor. Which is akin to the Old High German word for thunder, thonar. No mention of the Norse word for thunder, but it does say that in old Norse Thor was actually Thörr. As for dunderhead, it actually says that it comes from combining the Dutch word donder (thunder) with the English word head, no mention of donderhood.
