Well, I was visiting with the old timers at the coffee shop (The Gingerbread House) the other day…(they are my constantly flowing fountain of knowledge about all things genuinely Southern) and they were talking about how their grandparents would use folk medicine to cure all sorts of ailments. Robert Crutchfield (Crutch) started the conversation about the kerosene and it seemed everyone there had had it applied to one part of their anatomy or another in their youth! (You can find Robert’s name hidden in the log if you look closely)

My uncle was a top level first aid man, unfortunately his favourite statement was “well if I can’t cure you, I’ll just take you behind the barn and shoot you”……. Fear Healing works people! Also his favourite antiseptic was Blue Koat, so I spent a lot of my childhood changing colour.

If you’re still standing and talking, you don’t need no darn hospital. Besides, who’s gonna pay for it?
