Both, probably.
And yes, Val and Joan, your free babysitter may be otherwise occupied for a while …

Mom has got a life.

From yesterday, Macushlalondra, I hit a point in college where I had to make some hard decisions about my major and so I decided to take a term off and do some volunteer work. I found a non-profit organization that sends volunteer teachers to various countries and I signed up to go to China (it was the most out-of-the-way place I could imagine). Long story short, I decided that I like it here and so I managed to land a job teaching English writing, diction, and computers in a college-prep school.

Looks like Mom isn’t coming home for a while. She’s found a greater purpose than just babysitting her spoiled granddaughters. And a lotta fun with a new boyfriend.
It sounds like you’re happy with your life ejcapulet and everyone should be so fortunate!

When in college, I volunteered to to outer space exploration. Unfortunately, I stayed here, but all the comics are colored.
Sorry EJCAPULET I respect what you did/do. I just had to take the cheap joke.

Good for Evie. And for all those who take the adventurous path.

If not now, when? Go for it Evie. But do continue to stay in touch with your family.

I think it’s ironic how, when children are young, they want change but parents don’t, but when parents want to change later, the children DON’T want it.

I think Evie is an inspiration. I hope that when I’m her age, I’m still having adventures.

She’s not just a granny, she’s a cougar!

If anyone wants the complete source for the quote that @Readdheadd used, it’s:
*If I am not for myself, who will be? And if I am for myself alone, what am I? And if not now, when?*
There are various translations from the Hebrew, but I really like this one.
It is attributed to Hillel, I believe.
@Anandgyan, what’s a cougar?
@lewreader, I just don’t get the joke! Please cue me in!
Or anybody else who cares to help me with those two questions…

And so, the circle comes to a close. One of the girls begged her to come back from Africa, and she did, and now she’s off again.
Next storyline, please? :D

Rina I sorta asked about the cougar myself I don’t know how long its been around first time I heard of is on TV and I don’t watch that show. Someone made some comment, if you don’t know you must live under a rock. That is how I received that comment.

@RinaFarina and @kab2rb:
A cougar is an older woman who dates/enjoys the sexual company of younger men.

A cougar is an older lady who has a younger man. Funny thing is, there isn’t a term, that I know of, for some older man going after a much younger lady! In my book, if “cougar” is a derogatory comment for a lady with a younger man, than how about “old goat” for the older man going after a much younger lady?!

Good for you, Evie! Some people try their entire lives, but never love who they are. Congratulations to everyone who can say this.

Grandma might have snow on the roof but looks like she has still got fire in the furnace. You go girl! I think “sugar daddy” has a nicer smell? than old goat.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Sometimes older is not great for younger. For example: I saw such years ago with two different races. A woman old enough to be a grandmother and two teenagers one younger different races and didn’t look good. Caretaker would not parade like what I’d seen. What I saw happened years ago in a public store and was a sorry sight.
At least Evie and Arnold are being respectable.
RinaFarina over 14 years ago
Now what does “no glove no love” mean?
Maybe I should just go back under my rock (sigh)… @kab2rb, I know you’re not the one who said it, but that’s a mean thing to say. As tho everybody should automatically know things. I can tell you a few things that the person who did say this doesn’t know…

Like, anybody care to guess what my avatar is? or is it obvious? I would not have thought so.

No glove no love means use a condom or no sex.
And no we who hadn’t heard the term cougar had not just crawled out from under a rock. I wasn’t too pleased with that comment either.
RinaFarina over 14 years ago
@somebodyshort, you’re close! it’s 2 or 3 very young (a few days at most, not even that) falcon chicks. plus eggshell from one of the ones that had already hatched (apparently the mother may eat the eggshell when she gets around to it), plus one last egg that probably won’t hatch (apparently this often happens).
They are so young that their eyes are still closed, and all they can do is lean on each other, rocking slightly back and forth.

I Wished Ihad a Grandma like her..so sweet and generous. My Grandma has passed away and it’s a little bit sad reading this comics coz I thought about her and missed her so much.

Doesn’t matter how long Evie stays, she won’t miss out on her grandkids growing up, they stay the same age year after year after year.
SO STAY
