Instructions:1) Make a loop at the end of the rope. Leave approximately 86 inches of length between the end of the rope and the loop; length may vary with height of subject.2) Lay the rope flat and make it into an “U” shape. Take an end and bring it toward the bottom of the “U” shape, passing it under the doubled part of the rope.3) Wrap the free end around the noose thirteen times, winding to the top.4) Pull the free end of the loop through the top. Make sure there is a bit of extra rope left over. If there is not enough rope left over there is the chance that the knot could slip when you tighten it and rope may not reach over the gibbet.5) Tighten the knot. Hold the free end in place and pull on the end of the rope connected to the top.6) Place loop over subjects head and snug knot.7) Pull lever and stand back.

When I was 10, I asked my grampa to help me with my tie for church. He gave me a disgusted look and said, “Boy, you’ve been tying a tie knot for four years now.” I replied I hadn’t, that my mother and grandmother always did it for me and he pointed out the double windsor knot we used was the same knot we used when saddling the horses. The knot wasn’t a noose, but it did put ties into a context I understood. I’ve had few horses who loved to get out of the pasture enough to ‘enjoy’ the saddle, and there have been few events I’ve attended where I ‘enjoyed’ wearing a tie. However—-It wasn’t a noose.Just felt a little like one at times.Smilingly,C.

Maybe he just needs a clip-on noose. (This is what happens when you use the low-bid contractor.)

briatollah: See GBShaw’s “The Devil’s Disciple” for John Bourgoyne’s view on the subject..C Downs: I would think a piece of paper would not affect recoil as much as a chunk of lead, and therefore the shooter would know at the moment of firing. And the procedure is one blank, not one live round.
