I would pray for that. In the history of humanity, religious wars have waged on and on…People consider themselves smarter now, but they make the same stupid wars.
The LDS faith is not works-based; rather, the church holds that people need to get up off the couch and get things done if they seriously want to take upon themselves Christ’s name.
check history…the first century Christians refused to get involved in politics, armed forces, or idol worship…who doesthat nowadays…only one group…JW’s
Not only does the ‘toon make perfect sense, it’s even written into our Constitution at Article Six, and in the First Amendment!!! (And our “religious” posters here ignore that fact, just like modern Jews, Christians, and Muslims ALL ignore what their “holy books” say!!) Hypocrisy IS the modern “standard”.
The one thing that most religions have in common is the belief that their’s is the “true” religion and all others are not. This allows a few extremists within to conclude that the lives of members of other religions have less value than their own.
Religion is a lot of things to a lot of people. But one thing it does is give tyrants, murderers, miscreants, manipulators and other people cover for their own misdeeds: “I didn’t do that. GOD did that.”.(And reminding rational people that God gives us free will only reinforces our belief that you are in fact under the thumb of other God followers.)
I’ve researched plenty of anti-antinomian (would that simply be “nomian”?) sources. I eventually arrived at my current conclusion after weighing several different beliefs. A debate with you would be interesting, perhaps even enjoyable – but I fear those with decidedly hostile viewpoints (trolls, in the vernacular) would continually butt in.
In the end, I suppose, the issue may be that we each have a somewhat different definition of what “religion” is. As I define it, we could certainly do with less religion – but more faith.

“Religion” is nothing but attempts to control others so that the perpetrator can live in comfort without working.
