Riight. She’s accepting herself into diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and who-knows-what else, because it’s easier to live in denial and stretchy waistbands than it would be to go to the gym and actually, you know, WORK on being fit and healthy.

(And yes, Irving, that goes for you, too!)

You can go too far with it. I think they (and my husband and I) need to lose weight for the sake of our health but we’re not going to get into this perfect body garbage. We’re too old for that anyway.

The secret to “overall fitness”? Buy your overalls two sizes too big.

I think being moderate and not worrying about it so much is probably better fof Cathy than the extreme diets and stuff she tends to do.

Instead of spending an hour a day at an expensive gym/club, I got rid of my car (saving $400/mo plus) and bike 7 miles to work. Takes 1/2 hr longer each way than driving (except in rush hour when it’s faster). I take the bus when snow/heavy rain make biking impractical (cold is no problem), or to travel more than 10 miles (to MicroCenter, for instance).
