I think he’s merely stating a correlation between fallible logic throughout the ages, Canuck. I mean, recently Norwegian scientists have claimed that the majestic moose and its flatulence causes a great deal of carbon emissions, or so they claim. Poor majestic, albeit gaseous, moose.
The fact that the earth is round was well accepted from classical times on. In Columbus’ day, the arguments weren’t about the shape of the world but its circumference. CC thought the world was only about half the size it actually is. If there hadn’t been a continent in the way, he would never have been heard from again.
I see Stantis’ point as all three positions are based on a one-time limited perspective and a blind faith insistence that it not be looked into more broadly. What does it mean when an unquestionable orthodoxy has taken hold?

Sorry to burst your bubble, Dr? Canuck, but there is nothing Biblical about a flat earth. The Bible states just the opposite (See Isaiah 40:22).
Like you, the Roman Catholics weren’t much into actually reading the Bible, just in holding onto their power.
