    just think in 10 years people will look at this and think “what are THEY complaining about?!”

    /me still remembers people griping about gas going up over a dollar.

    Let go back even further to my time (the 1960’s). When
    I was a lad, many were complaining about gas going up a quarter!

    Just think, the former Secretary of Energy was pushing to have gas above $5 thinking that would be good thing for us.

    @Josh Lyons

    Did you really mean the increase was a quarter? or did you mean to a quarter?

    I think everyone (perhaps the station owners the loudest) would have complained back then if the increase was a quarter a gallon.

    Well to be frank, I’m not really certain. You see,
    I was six at the time in 1966.

    @Josh Lyons

    I was 20. The historical gas prices table lists 31¢ ($1.73, if adjusted for inflation to 2011 dollars) per gallon for 1966. If that price had increased 25¢, the station owners probably wouldn’t have been able to refill their storage tanks.
