John McPherson makes us howl at his adroit mix of everyday settings and extraordinary events. John’s offbeat, oddball characters turn up in familiar places, but their actions are always hilarious and unexpected.

@jiocco
They are white. You are forgetting how wide the straps are on a beach chair (about 2 inches)

I wasn’t going to s ay anything, but my thought was that this must have occurred on the day the earth stood still. Then I thought, “No, let’s allow the cartoonist to have his way. It IS funny, after all.”

It’s funnier than the woman I met who managed to get a plaid bruise. She whacked her arm several times on the same edge, horizontally and vertically, over the course of 4 days. It matched her purple, green and blue plaid skirt.

I think the coloring is the result of the cartoonist trying to convey a plaid sunburn with pen and ink, then a colorist trying to color a pen and ink drawing of a plaid sunburn.
