The best thing for Republicans would be if the President worked with them to achieve constructive reform, even if this rehabilitated the President somewhat in the eyes of the people (just as President Clinton’s legacy greatly benefited from working with a Republican Congress). But if he refuses to do so I don’t think that Republicans will try to “get” him, but merely try to oppose his executive overreaches and hold his administration accountable for its actions.
