So you think that preferential treatment based upon race is the way to correct preferential treatment based upon race. That minorities are simply too stupid to be able to compete against white people without being given lower standards of acceptance. Blacks who score 550 on their SAT’s are to be admitted, but whites and asians need at least 1550 to be granted admission.

You really do have a twisted sense of reality.

How about this as an idea. Your race will have no bearing on which school you go to, which job you hold, or what government program you are eligible for. Everyone has the same standard to meet. Everyone has the same test. No one has their scores “adjusted” on the basis of race, religion or sex.

Now if you want to discriminate on the basis of financial background, where poorer individuals get a preference, THAT would be legal. But that is a class distinction and not a racial one.

And isn’t it telling that you think that Justice Thomas is too stupid to notice that his name is upside down. THAT is racist, and I am calling you out on it.

I saw a lot of abuse of affirmative action over several decades, as opposed to true “equal rights”, but I do find it funny that Clarence has long been the “whitest” member of the SCOTUS ever appointed, especially as Scalia’s lap dog, and the true “Silent Sam” in oral arguments during his tenure.

Here’s an idea: How do you ENFORCE the idea of race-blind selection?
Studies have shown clearly that there is a bias, such that if you have the same resume with different pictures, the white one is far more likely to be selected. IQ tests are famously biased against African-Americans — which led some idiots to claim that this is a legitimate genetic difference, which (for the record) it certainly is not. (Notably, the gap has been closing in recent years, something the racists cannot account for.)
So if you can come up with a way for race to NEVER be considered, go to it. Affirmative Action is a way to level the playing field, which currently places equal candidates of different races at different levels.

When majority-black schools in poor sections of town provide the same quality of education as the majority-white schools in the suburbs, I could agree with your main point. So far, though, the evidence favors the suburban student to get a better education.

To be fair, throwing anyone, no matter their race, into Harvard when they have graduated from a horrible high school is not likely to be much good either for the student or the school.

So, the real issue is finding a way to provide equal-quality education, regardless of race, socio-economic standing, or section of the county/state/country. If we could make that happen (easier said than done), I would agree that there is no reason to discriminate one way or another in college admissions.

Regarding Mr. Thomas: I have read that he has yet to ask any questions when he’s on the bench. This seems odd to me.

Another concern is that his wife is well-involved with conservative political causes, yet he refuses to recuse himself based on her activities in cases where his wife has chosen to get involved.

But I will give him credit for being able to know when he is holding his name upside down. The point of the ’toon could be just as well stated without that detail.

Are you implying that Clarence Thomas did not get his job due to affirmative action? That he was the most qualified for the job, not because he was a minority?
Stick to doctoring, you do very well explaining medical procedures.

Maybe he did. Maybe he didn’t. But why is it such a big deal when Sotomayor was placed on the bench as the first Hispanic judge? Is it not affirmative action? Or is it different when a Democrat does it?

Sotomayer does her job, Thomas is not capable of doing his job.
This is an example of the affirmative action that is damaging.

If Thomas was liberal, Bennett would be a racist, but Bennett is clearly not a racist, since Thomas is conservative…. This is what passes for intelligence today.
In fact, if Thomas was a liberal and saw his name upside-down, perhaps he’d say Hey buddy you don’t want to go there!
You folks on the left have run out of useful causes, and are embarrassing yourselves now.

Best way to take race out of consideration is to refuse to identify yourself. That way all that shows is your ability

Some would argue that our mental affirmative action has given us a president that was less qualified, but was able to check-off enough boxes in our collective guilt to get the job. It has led to, what will be, eight wasted years of damage to our country. (and yes, the white guy before him wasn’t good either)

This is one more cartoon, of hundreds of others, by Bennett that proves he is a total extremist, racist, and refuses to listen to reason on any issue.

I am willing to bet he would call ANY Black conservative an “Uncle Tom” or an “Oreo”. Is not that racist? We hear the DemoTAXocrats calling Black conservatives “Uncle Tom” or “Oreo” all the time. Is not that racist and homophobic?

    Consider the source …

Actually, Bennett is a voice of reason and just about every cartoon he draws is insightful. Clarence Thomas was unqualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, as has been proved on innumerable occasions, and got the position through being the only black conservative available. Bad affirmative action. Sonia Sotomayor is a good justice, with respect for the law and ethics. Promoting her to chief justice corrected a lack of Hispanic representation, and also got us a very good justice.
