I received a wheelbarrow for Farther’s Day. It was made in Mexico to save expensive union labor. Had it been made with union pride perhaps all rather than most of the components would have fit properly.

When we got NAFTA that’s when all the jobs started going to other countries. Now it is hard to find made in American labels. Then you have to pay about 1/3rd again what the imported ones cost.

The way to stop illegal immigration is to prosecute those who hire illegal immigrants.
The governor of Arizona NEVER, NEVER mentions this.
If there were any Conservatives that were actually conservative, this would be their solution.

From the days of George Washington through James Carter the average import tax in the U.S. was around 30%. Then Reagan got in and promptly lowerd import taxes under the cry of “free trade”. Since 1980 the average import tax has been around 5%.

Tariffs stabilized price and salaries in the U.S., then they began exporting all the jobs without those “taxy thingy” rules. Now, jobs down, profits up, and when will they recognized that if nobody is employed, they can’t buy the product. Even Henry Ford recognized that nearly a century ago, but today’s “conservatives” can’t.

Odon, I hope you don’t mind this response, F Y I there are unions in mexico too! and the workers fare no better than those in other parts of this planet And you are correct, those Mega-conglomerated companies do save a dime or two unfortunately the workforce not always share the savings, their humble mindset is to make an honest livingl, that’s all do not condem them for that, My respects to you

And yes, Mr. Bennett,That lower sign should have them shadows with tags that read “Corporate people are running with the profits” because I doubt the immigrants cannot run with sacks full of $$$$$$$ (just one suggestion nothing more!)

Sorry My comment should have read “Could” instead of “Cannot” mea culpa)

Lower wages do not lead to lower costs for us. That’s not how capitalism works. The price is set by supply/demand, and if the manufacturers can make it cheaper in Mexico, they get to charge the same amount and keep the difference. This is why working-class people haven’t had an increase in income in the past 40 years, while the income of the 1% has soared.

Due to our poor economy and very few jobs, they’ve stopped coming here.

Oh noooo, you can’t punish the “job-creators”. Even the ones creating jobs for illegals…

@Wabbit
Gee, and why do you think that is? Maybe because labor costs are higher because the cost of living is higher? Could that not be addressed by increasing tariffs on cheap foreign wheelbarrows?

Your children must love you very much. To give you the gift of backbreaking labor like that. And you were not happy with it.

When I need construction or landscape work done around my house, if I want to be overcharged, not have the work done on time, and get a shoddy job, I hire a union worker. If I want quality work, on time, for a fair price, I hire a Mexican. And I make sure they are legal.

The socialists never mention their stupid policies and high taxation drive companies away.
