And now he’s on indefinite unpaid suspension for the threat.

As well he should be. That type of attitude and the police force are not compatible.

Good for the cop. SOMEONE has to keep the rabble in line.

Just an inkling of how Michael Brown ended up dead in the street.

When the police are willing to shoot unarmed civilians
    they’ve gone to far.

GOOD police work in 99.9 percent of situations doesn’t need any more body armor than the standard bullet resistant vests that do NOT have the intent of intimidation, but does help to protect cops from all the guns out on the streets they have to deal with , thanks in large part to Wayne La PIerre and the nut side of “ownership”.

In tracking the growth of militarizing the police, 99% of the “credit” can go to conservative politics and thought. Shoot first, ask questions later is NOT the “liberal” concept of getting the information first, and reacting rationally, even if that DOES sometimes mean lethal force is the only viable option left.

As a German I am very sensitive to all kinds of threats to Democracy. I noticed years ago that the U.S. is losing it’s bearing in that regard. 9/11 and the P.A.T.R.I.O.T act where the start and nobody noticed or cared (hint: any law with a snazzy name is intended to fool you).

The rot, regrettably, has gone too far and deep by now. The United States of America are finished. I see three possible outcomes:
    a) the “American Empire”, soon to be “Empire Earth” or
    b) a civil war, fought with nukes, and a dying wasteland or
    c) a total, honest reorganization, ditching the “founders and fathers” and instead developing a system of government that actually WORKS!

    Your choice…

We had a system of government that worked. It was called the Constitution. Politicians have slowly dismantled it. We here in America now live in a post-Constitutional society.

^Thanks to the “unitary Executive” of Dick Cheney, and court attacks on the Constitution from “conservative” judges and justices on the SCOTUS and “inferior” courts appointed over the years by Republican Administrations.

That cop summed up the power trip any individual would feel with that kind of equipment.

Make cops part of the community again. Not stormtroopers straight out of Star Wars.

I think it goes back to at least FDR. Maybe even Wildrow Wilson. Nice partisan attack, though, As thoughtful as ever.
