I wish the ‘toonists would clarify it’s the NRA “leadership”, not the members at large who often ARE just “gun owners”. I don’t like the NRA leadership, and positions, but their funding is all out of proportion to the number of civilian “members”, so that money is coming from someone making a lot of money from lax regulations, not just “gun owners”.

The book “Ricochet” does a pretty good job of explaining the difference, and just who La Pierre and the “regime” at NRA are.

If the 2nd Amendment were written today: The right of the people to a well trained legal defense (access to a lawyer) shall not infringed.
The US Constitution, 2nd Amendment is to protect YOU and me from the oppression of government.

If there is gun violence, it is because you let the government take away your protection. The Police are not there to protect you (look up Warren v. District of Columbia).

The 2nd Amendment is to protect YOU and me from the oppression of government. Today, you may not need a gun but you still need defense from the government.

How would you feel if I took away your right to a defense….lawyer?

Dtroutma… It’s the NRA using the funds from all it’s members that stopped this legislation.

If you want to blame it on the “NRA leadership” you better understand, they are saying their membership want’s encourages and pays for this stand against reasonable sales methods, by your NRA membership dues.
If you are a member, you paid for this. The only way to stop this is for all the NRA members to quit the NRA.

BURKESVILLE, Ky. (AP) 4/30/2013 — Authorities in southern Kentucky say a 2-year-old girl has been accidentally shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother, who was playing with a .22-caliber rifle he received as a gift.

Kentucky State Police said the toddler was shot just after 1 p.m. CDT Tuesday in Cumberland County and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Cumberland County Coroner Gary White told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the children’s mother was at home at the time.

White told the newspaper that the boy received the rifle made for youths last year and is used to shooting it. He said the gun was kept in a corner and the family didn’t realize a shell was left inside it.

White said the shooting will be ruled accidental.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
