No, what the people want are easy answers and for someone else to do the thinking for them. As a whole, America has willfully become mindless sheep begging the wolf to be their sheppard. They wonder why the wolf isn’t acting in their best interest, yet angrily shout down anyone who tries to set it right.

Before now, I haven’t seen too many politicos trying to “set things right”. Maybe now they will realize there is a consequence for not listening, and quit acting like 2-year-olds.

^When has that ever happened? The House has turned over for at least three of the last four presidents at the midterms. I have seen politicians trying to set things right, but the in-fighting is preventing any real change.

It’s like in an alcoholic family. When someone decides to get healthy (ie., change), everyone gangs up on him and says he’s ruining everything. That’s pretty much how I see the last two years.

^ “Obamao” Aren’t you so clever.

cdward is right. Democrats made very difficult votes to progress this country at the cost of political capital and thus lost the House. GOPers will try to claim the eventual benefits of their legislation, while retaking credit for things like TARP (they blamed him for TARP but it was passed on Bush’s watch, and now it’s beginning to turn a profit so they’ll suddenly flip-flop and claim that was Bush’s success and suddenly the 50% of Americans who claim TARP happened on Obama’s administration will praise Bush); and they will still have no answers for deficits. Obama has actually taken steps to reduce the deficit already, and Republicans have no way to make up for the $4 trillion in extra UNPAID debt we will accumulate for extending the Bush tax cuts. “Tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts” won’t solve our problems and won’t pay down our debt.

They’ll have to work with Dems… the President will veto them if they don’t.

All these folks who want less federal spending, except for their interstates, should turn in their Medicare cards and send back their Social Security payments. Or better yet, let them FIND a contractor to build those interstate hwys. Guvment, unfortunately, is REQUIRED for these large projects. The beloved Dick Cheney said, “Deficits don’t matter.” unless it is with the opposing party. I’m pretty disgusted with the entire mess.

@charlie555 Of course not. Why should they? They didn’t lift a finger when all those tax cuts were in place, why should they start now?

Alcoholic… interesting way of putting it, indeed.

Maybe yesterday’s outcome will somehow send a message to our beloved president and he’ll find a way to correct his cranial rectal inversion.

I use to enjoy reading the comments on the editorials, because they were entertaining and funny. Now it just seems that most of you have nothing to state but hate. I wish most of you would post thoughtful comments that have factual merit rather than name calling and throwing insults. It’s real creative when you misspell someone’s name….Real witty…Genius. The comments on these editorials shows the reason why the country is in the shape it’s in.

Neither the Republicans or the Democrats are going to be able to wave a magic wand and make things better and neither will give each other credit for something that’s done that actually does help in making things better for this country. You all need to wake up. Name calling and insults aren’t going to create jobs.

Two entire days have gone by and the miracle hasn’t restored jobs to our country. We demand that BigBohner give us his birth certificate and explain his complexion. Time to start a new movement to take our country back!

Re turning in social security cards etc. I issue you a challenge. How about allowing any or some or all people under age 40 to turn in their cards and totally opt out of the system? You would be amazed.

Madam Speaker will be replaced by the real “madam” of the house. “Energy conservation” will be a red light turned on by the biggest John.
