He should have stayed with Basketball, he is so good at it and it doesn’t project the same image as golf. But maybe presidents need the relaxation?

And everybody talking about the costs of going back and forth: what would YOU do if your boss tries to drive a wedge between you and your family Every. Single. Christmas!? It’s always around the holidays that Congress goes home, but creates a terrible crisis that can only be solved if the President is in town. Lousy barstuds…

OMG, the president took some time off over Christmas. That has NEVER happened in America before.

‘toon tale told to(by) and idiot. Obama was born in Hawaii, while he traveled the world, it was home. The Bush folks were from New England, “W” transplanted to Texas. Reagan had the “Western White House” in California (he wasn’t born there either), remember? BTW, when Jim Watt was removing all mineral withdrawals, he placed one outside that “western White House”, because Nancy didn’t like the noise from mining being so close.

Also Ike and others played a lot more golf than “O”, but all Presidents DO deserve some “time off”, but never (in most cases) ever really get away from the job. I don’t even begrudge “W” some time at the (cattle free) ranch cutting brush, but WHY do Republicans and “righties” find it so wrong for Obama, or Clinton, to take any time away?

As to spending on travel, might also look into “Air Sununu”, and he was only an advisor!

If we had the same situation, (facing the Fiscal Cliff) and a Republican President took time off for Christmas, would you feel the same way?

My Guess is No because you’re Partisan and hate any one other than Democrats.

    @Tigger

There’s the point, Tigger. Your situation is hypothetical, whereas this situation was actual.
    .
Why? Because the Democrats don’t have a history of holding the nation hostage over policy debates.
    .
Newt shut down the Gubmint, twice.
    .
The Republican House cut off America’s ear and sent it to us during the Debt Ceiling “crisis” of 2011.
    .
Rebpulicans demanded a vote on authorizing the President to use the threat of force in negotiating with Iraq, when was that vote? In October JUST before the Mid Term Elections of 2002. Why? Because it held Democrats hostage to the vote.
    .
It is the Republican MO. It has been brilliant politics in the past, but the Republicans FAILED to see that their boss (the American Majority!) have said “That’s enough.”
    .
And next they’re going to want to do it all over again on the Debt Ceiling again.
    .
There’s the song for the day! Papa Got A Brand New Bag James Brown!
    .
If Republicans want to be part of the dance, they’re going to need to learn the new beat. (James’ “New Bag” was Funk, downbeat is on the one, baby.)

Yup, hop back in that plane you love so much and burn up a bunch more jet fuel (very “green” of you). At least when George W. went to the ranch, he went AFTER Christmas so the people who had to go with him could spend Christmas with their families. This jerk thinks of no one but himself.
