Obama did release the SEALS on bin laden, and if the attack on Benghazi had not happened at the same time crowds in Cairo and other moslem cities were rising up in protest, the limited security that was in Benghazi may have responded more effectively. Though, RPGs coming through the windows can be very disorienting from what I hear. Obama’s having way too much fun with the Big Bird zingers…after the debate…would have been of more use during the debate. But generally, Chip, just not your best work.

The fact that mattered with Obama-Osama
was not the order to the SEALs but to the
CIA, years earlier, to restart the manhunt that
had basically been abandoned by GWB. He
famously said he “didn’t care much about
that guy” anymore. From a strategic level
this may have been okay (OBL was out of
the loop pretty much after 05) but from an
emotional point of view it was a terrible thing
to say. President Obama realized that and
felt the pain still in the American people. He
send out the spies, he got the intel, he let
the military do their thing and he protected
the mission. Yes, you read that right. He
and his political team protected the mission!
-
To this very day nobody was able
to explain to me why he released his long-form
birth certificate two or three days prior to
the mission, without any need to do so. I say
that was deliberate, to create “chatter” on the
air and distract from any preparations. And
if I’m right he’s the smartest President the
U.S. has ever had!

It was NOT “two weeks” for the administration to note Benghazi was NOT just a result of “demonstrations”, the weapons used were quickly identified as being “something else”, and they said so. Now, as for “security” and “intelligence”, Issa, and the Republicans, notably as well Romney’s “shoot from the hip” immediate comments, made things around the world WORSE for our foreign service officers and staff.
“Average Americans” do NOT understand what’s going on with these operations, or “security”, or even what’s going on in the world. Sharing proprietary, confidential, or secret information with the press and “people” is totally irresponsible, and what Issa and Republicans have done. Obama DID credit the SEAL teams and others who “got bin Laden”, and yes, some information probably shouldn’t have been released, but the Pakistanis and others WERE releasing photos and information as well, and sometimes it helps to control the source.

What I’m waiting for the Democrats to say is in response to the Republicans wanting to go to war;
.
WE ARE at war with the people who did this. That’s pretty much the POINT isn’t it? That’s why it’s called “The Global War On Terror!”
.
Yeah, they should have had more guards around the Embassy. But then, what good would they have done? How many would it have taken? How many more would have died?
.
If the entire embassy is attacked, and a total of 4 people die, that’s not an Embassy. That’s an empty building that one day might become an embassy!

I find wars on anything but nations stupid.
Look at the “War on drugs” or the “War on
poverty”. The “War on terrorism” is as stupid
as the (non declared) “War on HIV/AIDS” – you
win some, you lose some, but the virus is
out there. And, NO, I don’t have a way to
solve the problem, sorry…

From the look of the Polls, it appears the Voters will be solving the problem.
