I am looking for a specific Cathy comic. Does anyone recall the ‘I lay my feet on the collected works of Shapespeare and watch the love connection . . . perfection is within my reach, but just slightly out of my grasp.’ Those are just two of the frames.
Hoping someone can help me out. I would love to see it again

A “perfectionist” will find any excuse not to do something. If she truly is a perfectionist, then she probably has OCD and we’ve seen no signs of that (actually the opposite).

Good morning, Cathy clan! I can’t believe how fast the month is going!

SkinnySJB, I don’t recall seeing that specific comic, but then again I can’t remember them all. Plus I probably started reading the comic in the 80’s and didn’t exactly connect with a lot of them because I was too young to understand.
The Cathy strip started in 1976, and these online reruns started with the 2001 strips (or maybe a year earlier). So there are a lot of years in between. I would recommend looking through the published books for those strips. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Easier to call yourself a perfectionist than lazy. EYEROLL!

    Happy Saturday fellow Cathyites.

I did not get a chance to even read the strips this week. Too many appointments, meetings, and the obligatory rest periods in between. Caught up today though. I have even tried to stay away from the TV this week – the news is just too depressing.

I kind of agree with Cathy here – the first of a month should always be on the same day of the week along with the first of the year. The months should all have the same number of days. Having to program for monthly statistics is a real pain with our current calendar. Of course, making everything come out even would require altering the earth’s orbit so I guess we are stuck with the calendar we have.

@Skinny I DO remember that! Love Connection was on the air a long time, but I’m assuming the strip is from the 80s when it was new and huge. Off to check my collection of Cathy books…

Yeah, Julius Caesar actually tried that — and it turned out to be an epic fail that required a massive overhaul of the calendar in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII.

And the Roman calendar (in use before Caesar’s time) was an even bigger mess — it had only ten months of either 30 or 31 days (March-December; January and February didn’t exist), and this constantly threw date calculations off over the decades!

Excuses, excuses! At what point in her life did Cathy EVER have a “highly developed sense of order”?!? And while the word “perfectionist” is about as far away from describing her as any word I can think of . . . the words “lazy”, “disorganized”, “hoarder” and “shopaholic” certainly DO pop into my mind immediately though! What a hot mess she is!!!!! ;-)

    Hi, rgcviper!

Hello and Happy Saturday, fellow “Cathy” clan. Hope everyone’s weekend is going well so far!

One odd kind of perfectionism is to think “if I can’t do this thoroughly and correctly right now, then I’m not even going to start.” And of course, things get even worse.
Good to “see” you today hendelca and good to see you back here again on Thursday kittycatpaws. Who else is having a weirdly chilly late April day like we are in Georgia?

You know that I did too, and I loved it! Hope you got out of the house like I did, esp now that the pollen has settled down. :-)

How about scraping the car off and driving 70 miles home in a blizzard last nite — temp outside right now is 33.

Ow. I’m pretty sure that this [eye-roll] was so severe, it caused a brain-freeze as well.

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
