    I can’t keep up with the latest on water. I think you’re supposed to drink when you’re thirsty, although most don’t (or don’t think about it).

    I know I don’t drink enough water, but always thought 8 glasses a day was excessive. And I don’t understand why they warn you against sodium because it causes you to retain water yet tell you to drink 8 glasses of water a day. I know one thing, if I did I’d be back and forth to the potty even more than I already am!

    All I know is it’s very important to keep hydrated. Most headaches and chapped lips are caused by dehydration. I got used to downing lots of water when I had trouble with my kidneys. As for Cathy’s weight loss…poor thing is going to put it right back on. Happy day all.

    It’s good to drink 6-8, 8oz (think juice glass) a day… not all at once. It doesn’t flush out nutrients; it does help “detox” (such a catch phrase) stuff that the body doesn’t need or use. If you drink them all at once (64oz) all at once, then yes, you aren’t doing any good. But over a 12-16 hour period – normal day for most – it’s a good thing!

    Think 8 – 8 ounces of water. A normal size juice glass usually holds 8 oz of liquid.

    Thanks, scretwitch — that helps. I always think about tall glasses of water when I hear this, and I know I couldn’t get all that water down every day!

    If Cathy’s skirt is looser with the loss of 6 lbs, then it wasn’t only water weight she lost (unless she coincidentally bought the skirt on the same day she just happened to be retaining water that month) — which means that at least some of it had to be actual fat loss too. Either way, I say: “Way to go, Cathy!” After all, a little bit of something is MUCH better than a whole lot of nothing when it comes to weight loss. A loss of something encourages you to keep on going; a loss of nothing discourages you and makes you want to give up so . . . keep on going, Cathy. You’re doing just great!

    Yay Mom!! So right — every little bit helps. With ww you are supposed to drink 6-8 glasses/day. It’s 3-4 tall glasses and in the summertime, I far exceed it. I always mix some (abt 1/4) lemonade in with it for flavor.

    While I applaud her for her weight loss, I say she’s lost something ELSE, too. (Hint: It’s inside her head.)
