Mom: Too many sales. That's the problem with this country, Cathy. Nobody believes in them anymore. Take away our belief in something as basic as the price of a T-shirt and you open the door to questioning all our beliefs. Today's "final markdown" is tomorrow's "really, really final markdown"..today's "24-hour blow-out" is tomorrow's "36-hour price slash-a-thon"! "There's always something better if you wait." That's the message. "Don't trust what we say today because we'll top it tomorrow." When we get that message smashed into us 1,000 times a day through ads and store signs, we get numb. We get ho-hum. And worse. We subconsiously quit believing in opportunities and relationships because we're programmed to think next week's offering will be better! In conculsion, if my daughter isn't married, it's the mall's fault! And that's my final word on the subject! Cathy: Thank you, Mother. Mom: Until next week's final word... 50% off 35% off 75% off 45% off 100%right 5% Listening
