Cathy: I'm sick of government waste and will be protesting by not filing a tax return this year! C.P.A.: Fine. Just know that if it turns out the government owes you money and you don't file your claim, its debt to you will be canceled in three years...but if it turns out you owe the government money and you don't pay up, your debt will compound hourly with interest and penalites and haunt you until the day you die, dragging you and everything you hold dear down with it. Cathy: I'm here to do my taxes. Receptionist: The protest is over. The demonstration is about to begin.
