Calvin! I hope you didn’t leave it behind when you took off so suddenly! If you did, I bet it has been Stomped on by now! ;)

My office at home is my son’s old bedroom. Sometime in the past he went wild in here with stick-on “glow-in-the-dark” stars … Not just random stars everywhere, but accurate representations of celestial constellations – Scorpio (his / my “Star Sign”), The Southern Cross, Orion (which we see upside-down from the southern hemisphere so it looks like a giant saucepan in the sky) and many more.

He has even carefully selected the available stars for the correct relative brightness in each constellation.

It’s a very impressive sight when I turn off the lights to go to bed each night.

    The constellations, cool.

The dinosaurs? My early childhood frequent nightmares had to do with dinosaurs and other “monsters.”

Then again, we have Calvin, who is afraid of monsters under his bed, but has control of the dinosaurs in his life.

    Go figure.

Today’s Calvin and Hobbes strip is from July, 1990. Here’s one from a series that we read two years ago. It was actually published in 1992, two years after the series that we are currently reading. That’s because we are currently reading reruns from Bill Watterson’s second sabbatical.

So Calvin and Hobbes visited the Jurassic two years before they visited themselves. Not sure which trip was more risky.

I like the avatar. I loved everything I saw Jim Garner in. He’ll be missed.
