Does Dad’s life insurance policy have a double indemnity clause for eaten by tiger?

The parents have no dialog, but it’s fun watching them watching the wedding.

I don’t even know why Calvin’s parents dragged him along to this wedding in the first place. To me a wedding isn’t exactly the best place for a little spitfire like Calvin.

I assume that one of the people getting married is a relative of Calvin’s Mom as she seems to be more interested in the ceremony than the Dad is. Just look at that scowl she gives him in the first frame.

In the last frame, it looks like he is asleep. Boy, is he going to get after the reception or maybe on the way to the reception or maybe he won’t be allowed to go to sleep tonight since he had a nap in the afternoon ! !

Dad is checking his watch. Hoping to get to the motel for a nap/swim/game on TV – anything but where he is.

You made me realize I’ve always been interpreting this strip all wrong! I’d always read it as Calvin being worried that Hobbes will starve to death and leave behind a gruesome corpse, and Calvin would prefer not to be the first one to see it. But what you said makes a lot more sense. All this time I’d had it all wrong. LOL

Observe Mom, Calvin. J-u-u-st maybe, her tears are for Hobbes …?

I don’t remembering that they Hobbes-proofed the house before leaving. So he probably won’t have problems finding something. But I do wonder what the house will look like.

Be longest two days for Calvin and Hobbes.

Reminds me of the strip where Calvin is awakened by Hobbes talking in his sleep about tuna fish sandwiches. Poor Calvin is afraid to fall asleep—next to a hungry tiger! Of course Hobbes would feel bad if he ate his little buddy, but we couldn’t really blame him. Tigers are creatures of flawless instinct. That’s why we love them.

That first thought bubble could just as easily have been coming from Dad, judging by his expression.
