Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

I hated going to school in the rain and hated going to work in the rain.

There’s only two things to do on a rainy day, and I don’t like to play cards.

That’s a standard reaction to bad weather. I really don’t feel like leaving the house in rain like that.

Same here. Wasn’t much fun working in the rain, either.

I have always loved rain.
It meant that it would be a quiet day on the farm. We couldn’t really do anything productive outdoors, all the animals would be quiet as well and the crops were watered.
We had the fire going and stayed indoors and read.
.
We lost the family farm due to drought.

You’ve got to love Calvin’s hat. It’s just perfect for wearing to the Gulag.

We never referred to our work place as “The Gulag”. For us it was always “The salt mines”.

Looks like Calvin is ready for a hurricane, good thing for Hobbes there’s no wind. Rain can be fun, especially when you don’t get much to start with. Where else do you think mud and puddles come from?

I suppose it’s more common than I thought, but I never had to walk to school in the rain. Mom always carried us (my sister and I — we’re 8 years apart) if it was raining; and later I rode a city bus, but never had to wait in the rain.

Aren’t you afraid you’ll go blind?

Don’t answer any of the above! We’ll have to run another campaign to bring you back!

Yes, Ottodesu, farming folk all over the world are usually very pleased to see the rain. I know our South African farmers fear drought much more than they worry about rain. Of course, we live in a country of extremes so sometimes we have drought years and then we get floods. Not so nice.
