Flame thrower…… Hmmmm……… OK, that reminds me of one of the funniest Peanuts strips ever. It’s an oldie:

    Peanuts (1954)

Peanuts had a lot of physical humor and hilarious images in the early days, and that’s a lot of the appeal of Calvin and Hobbes throughout its entire run. Sometimes the words in Calvin and Hobbes can be very humorous, but often the images are just so darned funny.

In this forum, our own attempts at humor are severely limited to words on “paper.” Unfortunately, we are unable to entertain each other with our vocal inflections and timing, with our facial expressions and body language, or with humorous artwork or props.

Consequently, it can make our own humor on this site seem quite inferior to the comic strips at times, largely because this is not a level playing field. We have only our words to work with; but we are “competing” against comic strips that contain not only words, but artwork that includes facial expressions, body language, action, plus emphasis and inflection drawn into the words.

Of course, in the case of Bill Watterson or Charles Schulz, we are also competing against genius.

Nevertheless, sometimes people on this site manage to say things that are just so darned funny.

Calvin must have been similar to Stewie Griffin (from Family Guy) when he was 1 year old.

Ha ha, you must be a very slow reader. Sorry, Dogsniff, but I couldn’t resist that.

Actually, 12 minutes might be a record for reading one of my longer postings. But Dogsniff was referring to the time gap between my first and second postings, during which he was waiting with great anticipation and trepidation…. :>)

Oh, right, that was funny, but being Dogsniff, he could have meant it the other way too. I’ts 08:13 on Saturday morning here, and we have a little sunshine at last. We’ve had icy winds and rain the whole week plus a ship run aground on the rocks off the north coast.

Not much happening here in the U.S., except that our ship of state has run aground due to icy relationships, and the ceiling is about to fall in. Hoping for a ray of sunshine.
