One of the best South Parks is the one where Saddam Hussein ends up in Hell…Repeatedly…Every time he comes back to Hell, the Devil asks what the hell is he doing there… Saddam says, “Where’d you think I’d go to? Detroit?”

Hey, Michigan traded Toledo to Ohio in exchange for Wisconsin giving us the western U P. Can’t we make a Deal with Canada or something? They get Debt-rot, and we get,….Oh, I don’t know……Manitoulin Island? Just askin’

    Varnes… but they don’t want Detroit….
so to take it, they wouldn’t give you an island,
they’d make you guys give them one.

This is NOT FUNNY!! Until you have been to Detroit, shut up about it. I live in a Detroit suburb and I can tell you there are beautiful places in that city! Dan Thompson, you just lost a reader.

What if you have been to Detroit and it is still a slum?

Heck, travel to any of the old mill cities of New England and all you will find are slums with remnants of what were once thriving and booming cities with great architecture and old Victorian homes. But they are still slums.

Yeah, detroit’s a wonderful place. I have been there. The suburbs and pockets ofmthencitybare nice but overall it’s a pit. Get a sense of humor and some competent leadership.

SusanSunshine: They won’t even take an island. Back in the 1970s, Turk and Caicos asked to be made a Canadian territory. The argument was that they would get the Douglas health system and Canada would get a tropical vacation spot without customs problems. Canada turned it down.
    .
information: And it is the largest US city under the monarchial rule of a Gauleiter.

I’m sorry it bothers you, but the suburbs were not being criticized. It is as fact that corruption and mismanagement have destroyed Detroit, though the entire city is not yet a wasteland. The ruins in Detroit are a natural result of socialism, and we should learn from that example.

I only went there once (on business) but I stayed the weekend to spend a day at the Ford Museum. I happen to be fascinated by early steam engines and generators.

I understand how you feel. I’ve lived in Illinois most of my life. Our entire STATE is so bad people can’t even find things to make fun of anymore — we’re too good at making ourselves ridiculous.

Where is OCP (Omni Consumer Products) when we need them? (See Robo Cop both versions.)

How about Quebec? Detroit would be less of a burden.(as a Calgarian, I should say Edmonton, but I actually kinda like the place.)
