I really dislike conspiracy theories – well – other than for entertainment that is. HOWEVER, what is happening in the middle east, all with the support of the USA? Are radical elements taking over every government that were once – even though they were run by Ahole dictators – keeping the area somewhat stable?

Why is it that Obama seems to want the Muslim Brotherhood or some similar radical Islamic group to take power in the middle east?

Except that Bush wanted to start WW III so that Jesus would return.
    .
According to French President Chirac, Bush told him that the Iraq war was needed to bring on the apocalypse:

In Genesis and Ezekiel Gog and Magog are forces of the Apocalypse who are prophesied to come out of the north and destroy Israel unless stopped. The Book of Revelation took up the Old Testament prophesy:

“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”

Bush believed the time had now come for that battle, telling Chirac:

“This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins”…

There can be little doubt now that President Bush’s reason for launching the war in Iraq was, for him, fundamentally religious. He was driven by his belief that the attack on Saddam’s Iraq was the fulfilment of a Biblical prophesy in which he had been chosen to serve as the instrument of the Lord.

Listening to Mr. “Can’t know what you don’t know about what you do know, but don’t know” Rumsfeld, criticize Obama for following the Constitution, would have been even funnier if it hadn’t been sick, and playing to the mentally retarded of his party.

Aside from the sociobiological aspect, I am also reminded of Rawls’ work in political philosophy, covered in his book “The Law of Peoples”. If we neglect what he has termed the historical burden of any society, we are unlikely to be able to deal constructively with other nations and cultures. It’s been a major failing in US policy for years and was illustrated back in the ’50’s by Greene’s “The Quiet American”.

The rightwing obstructionists who claim they only want to follow the Constitution have now got their wish — no, not the chance to follow the Constitution. Something new to whine over.

Your secondary insult aside (you twit LOL), I happen to agree with you.

Evolution and Spirituality do not necessarily cancel each other out. Got any idea what I’m talking about?

Yes, we are tribal….still….and it IS one of the problems we face today. We need to expand our “tribe” to include the set “homo sapiens” rather than "sunni/shiite/chatholic/Jew or US/China/Russia/Iran.

But the UN – as was the League of Nations – is a failure on that score.

All people DO want freedom but not necessarily democracy. There are vast hordes that find comfort in the regimented, controlled environment (much like academia) where the stress of making decisions for themselves is not a concern.

And I “believe” that no one prospers under an “evil” dictator other than those in power. Even YOU would balk under that duress.

So take comfort in your theory of evolution – a religion of it’s own – and discount all else as worthless. If we are indeed to “evolve” from where we are now, we need to move beyond petty tribal disputes.

    Religion is useless.

geez a president couldn’t very well just go start a war on his own, right? When will anyone think of humanitarian aid for the refugees?

After ignoring Congress for 5 years, now he wants to get them involved. That way, when it all goes to Hell, he can have someone else to blame. Can’t blame this one on Bush, so he needs a scapegoat.
