American Red Cross does the blood drive here. Their chairman is paid over $1,000,000 a year. Even the local level workers make big bucks. I was a Red Cross volunteer for 15 years prior to this “big buck pay” time and will NEVER donate a penny to the ARC because of that change. I will donate to the Salvation Army…their highest paid is $12,000 a year.

Salvation Army is my choice too. But the Red Cross despite its flaws does some good work. There are many dedicated volunteers

That blood drive lady shouldn’t call it a “small gesture.”

The Salvation Army actively campaigns against gay rights, so I would never support them.

@Tricia O
The Salvation Army is a religious organisation – they are misguided. My former next door neighbours were Salvationists, she was terribly pious…..he used to smoke and drink in the shed.
.
But they mean well.

I knew some Jehovas Witnesses a few years back. No blood transfusions…Christmas is not for us…alcohol is bad….Homosexuality is wrong. They drank, two brothers were Gay, they didn’t give Christmas presents but would would accept them….and when one of them had an accident on his motorbike; he had a blood transfusion.
.
The Salvation Army are purists compared to them.

I think I explained yesterday how the ARC totally screwed the pooch with me. I have no intention of ever donating blood to them again.

Are you positive about that, m’lady?
