I didn’t know they had Rolls Royces back then, or even radiator hoses for that matter. Must have been incorporated into the single wheel axle!

Yeah, I would have to agree, a real big hit

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Pennsylvania, if you rear-end someone (as clearly narrated here), you’re automatically at fault.

Same here in Alberta, you’re assumed to be following too close…
Lord knows, we get enough drivers who think a foot behind you is too far!

I thought the Commonwealth had no-fault insurance system

Where I live, that is sometimes true but if someone cuts you off immediately in front of you and then you rear end them, you are not at fault.
I witnessed an accident where a convertable honda prelude cut off a pickup truck hauling a trailer, in an attempt to get off the free way with less than a quarter mile to the off ramp. Problem was the off ramp was backed up, so soon as the car cut off the truck (about three feet in front of it) it slammed on the breaks. The truck unable to stop in time merely drove over the car. People were thinking the poor pickup truck driver would be at fault, but since I was a witness I went to court for the civil hearings and sure enough the driver of the honda was cited and ordered to pay for all repairs to the truck and trailer, which was substancial.
The old adage that as long as you can squeak in front of someone whatever happens after that is not your fault is no longer true. Course if there had been no witnesses besides the two drivers, then it defaults to the old way.
I guess by having laws making it no fault whoever hits from behind actually encourages people to cut others off and instead of tail gating at 2 inches they think its okay to come over at 2 inches in front. Thus hear every accident is investigated and fault it determined on a case by case basis

Even worse… the Rolls Royce emblem they just pried out of your helmet!

and have insurance, one out of 3 drivers in my state have no insurance despite it being a huge fine and such. You can go to jail for upto 3 years and yet people still drive without it. Of course half of all those that don’t have insurance don’t have a license either and aren’t legal residents either. Thus when I got hit by an illegal with no insurance my premiums took a hit despite the fact it was clearly not my fault, since my insurance had to pay for repairs using the unsured clause I pay extra for. Clause that just in case an uninsured driver hits me my insurance fixes things.

Thanks angelfiredragon! Not many people these days would take the time to go to court for another person.
Thanks again!

If you rear end someone you were following to close. Allow 4 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you.

I was rear-ended by an illegal from Mexico without a drivers license and no insurance either. I came to a complete stop on a 2 lane highway behind 4 other stopped vehicles. Both lanes completely blocked off due to emergency vehicles for a fatal crash. The idiot had 3 children in the back of his SUV and was argueing with his girlfriend on his cell phone. Hit me at 50+ mph, not braking at all. Lucky I was tightly seatbelted in my SUV and I was able to steer away from the small sedan of older women in front of me. Thank God for the police officer holding me back, I was going to kill the sob. Totaled my SUV.
