Back when the teaching profession was actually about teaching instead of indoctrination into World Socialism/International Socialism. The big change happened when the Ed degree was dropped by most states in the mid 1990s in favor of

    the party degree + 1 year of actual training. So, a teacher is now far less educated than 20 years ago, knowing less than the average student graduating in 1985.
