I would think that camouflaging oneself as a plant to hunt herbivores wouldn’t be the smartest thing in the first place.

What is bad is that it’s delayed action. A guy at an office I used to work at would get horrible blisters just from brushing against poison oak. (Same urushiol oil as poison ivy and poison sumac). I wasn’t susceptible to it, but since my coworker was, when I went out in the field, I’d come back and put my clothes in a plastic bag immediately and wash the stuff off. Chlorox II color safe bleach works on poison oak wonderfully.

Did anyone else have to look up ‘ghillie’? I did.

Ghillie or gillie is a Scots term that refers to a man or a boy who acts as an attendant on a fishing, fly fishing, hunting, or deer stalking expedition, primarily in the Highlands or on a river such as the River Spey. In origin it referred especially to someone who attended on his employer or guests.

Poison ivy…what a tool. Ever painted a toilet seat? Learned it from Chinese practical jokers…

Poison ivy on toilet seats – especially effective for expressing anti-western sentiment. Most of the world uses squat toilets. These are actually much healthier (and nice ones are made with porcelain and flush just like sit downs).

The sit down was invented for Queen Victoria – who had to be assisted in getting up and down and found sitting rather that squatting much more dignified.

And in a nice bit of serendipity, Queen Victoria had her gillie John Brown to help her up!

Jeez, I just figured a ghillie suit was a suit worn by a ghillie. Thanks for the tip. You learn something new every day.
