Proof that too much of anything, even something as good for you as a blueberry, is still bad for you.

When I was first at college, I hiked up a local hill (6,436’) and caught a horned toad just below the snowline. I ended up keeping him for a summer. He ate 40 to 60 ordinary ants per day on average. I’d drop them in his tank, he’d wait until one was close, his tail would wag like a cat going for it’s prey and SNAP! it was gone.
.
I made the mistake of giving him a carpenter ant.
.
He ended up not eating for 3 days afterwards.

Well, yeah, swallowing that tool belt those carpenters have on would be pretty rough on the poor toad!!

Ants have some kind of ‘formic acid’ in them, which must smell pretty bad. I can’t smell it, but from the faces my cats pull when they stomp an ant, it must be bad.
