Imagine you just put something in the oven or on the stove and the “when are we eating?” yell occurs.

I don’t use a cookbook or recipes either, for everything except meat, I look and taste test. I follow the directions on the package for the cooking time of turkey and ham.

My siblings and I learned early. Mom was a professional cook/chef so we got the basics as soon as we could reach the stove top.

This is a variant of the Old pilot and the young pilot joke.

After a successful flight the young pilot, who was being trained by the old pilot, learns the old pilot is nearly blind. He asks the old pilot about this and the old pilot says. “I always let the trainee take off.”

“But what about landings, you did today’s landing”?
The old pilot resonds, " I just aim at the runway and wait until the trainee sucks in a panic breath to pull up."

Now you know why I’m not a comedian.

My Mom and Dad did it a little different. They put the food on the table and called everyone for the meal. If you weren’t there, you didn’t eat. I learned at an early age to be on time for the meal.
