Baldo is our first comic strip that features Latino characters and themes. Baldo lives with his parents and works at Auto Y Rod, Inc., selling car parts. Through his daily exploits in the world of girls, cars, and little sisters, readers will learn just how well they can identify with this teen. Writer Hector Cantú and artist Carlos Castellanos have given us a comic strip whose warmth and gentle humor will appeal to all.

Not if she charged Cruz for all those slices.

If she didn’t charge Cruz for all those extra slices, she’ll get in trouble for cutting into the bottom line. The cafeteria still has to make money to stay afloat.

My grandma used to work in a school cafeteria. It was long before I came along and I never even went to that school. :-)

The contents on Baldo’s tray either changed from panel one and two or he has one of those Ginormous Growing Animals on his plate:

My mom worked at my middle school. Nightmare!

I knew someone whose mom worked in the middle school cafeteria. They were embarrassed as heck. The teachers would say in class, “Oh your mom must be a great cook!” Thinking back on it I wish the teachers would have had something memorable to say about academics. But that would be too much to ask from those overgrown kids.

Me too – and when the student coucil had a book sale I was hoping that at the end they’d take my three cents (because of the sale, I didn’t buy milk that day) for a ratty paperback copy of “Around the World in 80 Days”. Unfortunately, someone was wiling and able to pay the full nickel they were asking.
