I had to look up this word: Steerage is the lowest deck of a ship. It comes from steerage that means the steering of ship.

Depends on how you define “livestock.” Most of the immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island traveled in steerage (immigrants who traveled in first or second class accommodations landed elsewhere). The shipping companies treated steerage passengers like cattle to the point where their cabins were more like barracks than anything. They spent as little as they could down there, which of course is where they made their biggest profits.

So, is the lounge singer in charge of the boat?
Who is she to order up a luxury cabin for these girls?
Does Warbucks own the boat and therefore Annie gets anything she wants?
