Loved as an American icon and respected as an adventurer, Annie’s voyages pit her against some of the comics pages’ most notorious criminals. Annie’s tireless pursuit of justice has reinvigorated this classic strip, giving it more action, intrigue and curls than ever before.

Whenever GoComics gets their stuff together this morning, I expect Annie will need a translation. Had a little trouble with Panels 3, 4 and 6.
P1 – Annie, by Jay Maeder and Alan Kupperberg / Daily Tribune – MORE ARRESTS IMMENENT AS TERROR PROBE WIDENS / Daily Dispatch – DISGRACED DEPUTY ADMITS ALL
P2 – I’ve been a fool! I thought I lived in a decent community! I trusted my friends and my neighbors!
P3 – CLEANING UP THE COUNTY – Six deputies! Two magistrates! Health Commissioner! Tax Assessor! Child Welfare Bureau! Half the School Board! Crooks! Dishonest Officials! Taking the (something) of traitors sworn to destroy all we hold dear!
P4 – Well, it’s over and done with! There’s no room for those cops in my town! I’ll (something) them all! Every one!
P5 – One honest man, finally getting angry? That’s a mighty force, Amelia! / Yeah. Think all this crookedness ends at the Sheriff’s county line, Annie!
P6 – This was just one militia bunch! One of many! Who knows how far the poison spreads? / Anyway, most of the local (something) (something) taken care of.
P7 – Huh! There was only one body in the car wreck, wasn’t there? So that leaves the other guy unaccounted for. / Oh, him! Left him stuck in the water pipe on that truck back in Calamity. Guess he must be lyin’ low someplace.
P8 – AND UP IN THE HILLS / You hear something? / Mmmmf! Mfp. Mmffp! / Nope!
P9 – Yippee! Makes me durn proud of your hard work, eh, boys? Valley’s gonna have good clean water soon! / You said it boss! Here’s to the new pipeline!
P10 – STATE WATER DEPARTMENT FACILITY RESEARCH PROJECT / Mfp! Mmmfft! Hlffp! / Jay Maeder and Alan Kupperberg 10/21/01

Today’s Annie is visible (albeit it’s its same old illegible self) on Gocomics’ email version this morning
.
that is the first time in all my years of writing and blogging that I used it’s and its following each other . ’it’s its’ which would probably be better understood if i said: ’ it is its’
but not by much.

David, you transcribed the dialogue; where did you find it? Do you have the “Annie” website? Please share. Gocomics is completely blank — even the archives. Am I the only one who’s notified Gocomics about this?

The water in calamity is going to need a lot of chlorine!

Actually, this is the official web site. Today’s strip is a reprint from October 21, 2001, which is available in the GoComics archives. But that doesn’t help much today because the archives weren’t visible either. I could translate ahead of time because I have them all downloaded to my hard drive and backed up on a flash drive.

We’re back in business, and I’ll have to admit, Dave, it’s better to read it with the strip. I’m wondering how the sheriff was immune to all that corruption. It seems unlikely he would be totally clueless this whole time.
Wait! Did you hear a mumbling sound in one of those pipes? Oh, guess not, but I’ll bet their have a pressure problem when they make the final connection and turn that water on. .

P4 – Well, it’s over and done with! There’s no room for those curs in my town! I’ll (santé ?) them all! Every one!
Very strange than no one knows he is in that pipe. Despicable though he is that shouldn’t happen.

Yes. I think it’s “curs.”

You’d think they would have inspected the pipeline segments before welding them together. Also, that crook might have lost weight and have been able to get out by himself by then. Oh well … I guess the people will soon be getting contaminated water.
